Residents required to trim low-hanging trees

The Town of Mead would like to remind residents to trim their low-hanging trees.

According to town code, trees and shrubs with limbs overhanging a sidewalk or a street or alley shall be kept trimmed to a clear height of no less than nine (9) feet above a sidewalk and twelve (12) feet above a street or alley. A 12-foot clearing is especially necessary for the removal of snow from public streets. In addition to causing damage to plow vehicles, low-hanging trees risk being damaged by snow plows.

Failure to comply with town code could result in a code violation notice.
