The Citizens Police Academy is a unique and comprehensive 6-week community training program. It offers an exclusive opportunity for participants to better understand the Mead Police Department. Our goal is to foster partnerships with community members through interactive and transparent education. Participants will gain insights into patrol operations, school resource officer’s missions, investigations, Special Operations (SWAT/Bomb), drones, use of force, policy, procedure, and more.

The Citizens Academy offers a condensed version of the standard training curriculum for police officers, covering various topical subjects. Academy graduates not only develop a deeper connection with the officers serving their community but also gain the confidence and skills to actively contribute to crime reduction and report suspicious activity.

Potential candidates for the Citizens Police Academy must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Must live or work in the Town of Mead
  • No prior felony convictions
  • No misdemeanor arrests within the last twelve months
  • Successful completion of a background check, including local, state, and national police records
  • Commitment to attend all the sessions

Our next session will be every Wednesday from September 11 to October 16, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
