St. Vrain Valley Re 1j School District (SVVSD) is the educational home of more than 30,000 of Colorado’s students. The 8th largest school district in the state, SVVSD operates 53 schools that are spread over 411 square miles. The makeup of the schools include: 1 stand alone preschool, 26 elementary, 2 K-8, 7 middle, 1 middle/senior, 8 high, 1 alternative, and 6 charter.

Located approximately 30 miles north of Denver, the SVVSD is geographically diverse. Its physical boundaries extend from the Continental Divide into the plains of Colorado. Adding to its scenic setting are historic downtown Longmont and the backdrop of Rocky Mountain National Park and Longs Peak.

Mead Elementary was remodeled in 2014 to incorporate a new front office and library space.  It has approximately 500 students with an average student/teacher ratio of 19.7.

Mead Middle School was opened in 1972 and has approximately 435 students with an average of 32 per class with a low 18.7 student/teacher ratio.

Mead High School opened its doors in 2009 with only Freshmen and Sophomores in attendance. In 2012, the first class of seniors walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. In 2013, the first class as four year Mavericks took pride in their graduation. In May of 2014, they celebrated as 154 seniors graduated from MHS. They have approximately 871 students today with an average 21.4 student/teacher ratio.
