A commercial building permit is required to construct, expand, alter, or repair any structure used for commercial purposes. This could be anything from creating a new office or retail facility to adding a wall or even a few outlets in an existing tenant space. The commercial permit process also covers converting an existing structure previously used as a residence into a commercial use such as an office. Work that would not require permit issuance are projects such as painting, floor coverings, and replacing end-use plumbing or lighting fixtures where the plumbing or electrical infrastructure is not modified.

It's important to understand that Mead does not directly manage the licensing of contractors and trades. While we don't require a specific contractor license, we mandate a general business license for anyone conducting business within the Town of Mead.

All commercial permit applications must include a Mountain View Fire Rescue District plan review application.
